Lamark's Theory
Jean Baptiste Lamarck was best known for his Theory of Inheretance of Acquired Characteristics, that basically states that If an organism changes during life in order to adapt to its environment, those changes are passed on to its offspring. Lamarck believe that giraffes acquired their long necks by stretching them to reach food on tall trees. Due to the stretching, the giraffes acquired longer necks and thus passed on these genes to their offspring. Lamarck's idea was INCORRECT but he was one of the first scientists to contemplate evolution.
